See How OGUNCCIMA Prepares to Host 2024 Gateway International Trade Fair
The Ogun State Chambers of Commerce Industry, Mines and Agriculture, (OGUNCCIMA), has announced its readiness to host the 2024 Gateway International Trade Fair which aimed at facilitating business connections and investment opportunities in the state.
The OGUNCCIMA President, Engr. Mike Akingbade, who made this known on Thursday during a press conference in Abeokuta, the Ogun State capital, said that the trade fair would hold between 19th to 29th April, 2024 at the MKO Abiola Trade Fair Complex, in Abeokuta,
The event which aligns with the state government’s agenda for economic development, themed “Achieving Economic Prosperity Through Business Connection, Trade, and Investment.”
Engr. Akingbade while speaking at the press conference explained that the trade fair is an exhibition designed for industries to showcase their products and services with the aim of creating awareness, examining market trends and opportunities, maintaining customer relations, and prospecting for new businesses.
He boasted that this year’s edition will be climaxed with a raffle draw, disclosing that the star prize is a 2-bedroom bungalow courtesy of the Ogun State Government in collaboration with chambers of commerce.
His words “OGUNCCIMA – Gateway International Trade Fair is a dynamic convergence of diverse industries, bringing together a wide array of exhibitors representing industry, trade, agriculture, and services”.
“It is a veritable platform for fostering business exchange between local and international stakeholders through B2B, B2G, and B2C networking, which is a key focus of this 13th Edition”.
“This 13th edition of the Gateway International Trade Fair is also geared towards connecting businesses and creating a platform for policymakers and regulatory agencies to interact with the business community, with a view to understanding and appreciating each other’s vital role in the development of the state economy, job creation, and overall prosperity”.
“This year’s edition will be climaxed with a raffle draw. The star prize is a 2-bedroom bungalow courtesy of the Ogun State Government in collaboration with OGUNCCIMA”.
‘Similarly, for the first time in the history of Ogun State International Trade Fair, an Entertainment Village is being created for relaxation and social engagements. There will be no dull moments”.
“OGUNCCIMA is joining the Ogun State government in “building our future together in the area of Agribusiness, to increase her productivity, and to encourage and develop SMEs through the influx of investors into the state, making her the investment place of choice”, Engr. Akingbade added.
The Ogun State Commissioner for Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, Emmanuel Sofela, represented by Special Adviser to Governor on Trade and Investment, Oluyemisi Somorin-Dawodu, on his part said “This fair serves as a premier platform for showcasing the economic potential of our State, promoting trade and investment opportunities, and fostering partnerships both locally and internationally”.
“I am pleased to emphasize that the Ogun State Government is fully committed to providing a conducive environment for the success of this event”.
“We recognize the pivotal role that such events play in driving economic growth, creating employment opportunities, and enhancing the competitiveness of our local industries”.
“As part of our efforts to make the 13th Gateway Trade Fair 2024 a resounding success, we have introduced some innovations such as Provision of free bus transportation from Kuto to the Trade Fair ground at Laderin and back to town, Introduction of an entertainment village, where participants and visitors to the fair can relax and enjoy their time with loved ones, Introduction of a daily raffle ticket draw, with consolidated prizes to be won on a daily basis.
“His Excellency, Prince Dapo Abiodun, CON, has graciously approved the donation of a two – bedroom flat for this purpose.
He however urge all stakeholders to be fully engaged in making the 13th Gateway International Trade Fair a resounding success.
“Let us leverage this opportunity to showcase the rich diversity of our industries, highlight our State’s investment potential, and forge meaningful collaborations that will propel us towards greater prosperity”, he said.

Ademola Adeleke, the governor of Osun State has given consent to the readjustment of workdays for civil servants in the state.
This was made known on Tuesday through a circular from the Office of the Head of Service, Samuel Aina Ayanleye and issued in a statement by Olawale Rasheed, the spokesperson of the Osun State Governor.
As gathered, this is in response to the high transportation costs in Nigeria.
Adeleke made this move few weeks after its neighboring state, Ogun state reduced its civil servants workdays to 3 per week.
However, in addition, the circular stated that Ademola also approved an extension of payment of palliatives for public servants for the next two months.
Also, it stated that the action was in pursuance of Governor Adeleke’s commitment to the well-being of workers, and a response to the present economic situation in the Country.
“By this Circular, therefore, and until another directive is given, the working day schedules for Public Servants in the state have been approved as follows:
“Public Servants on GL.01 to GL.10 – Three days a week. Public Servants on GL12 to GL.17 – Four days a week.”
The Circular further noted that the arrangements exclude those on essential duties such as medical personnel, security officers, political office holders and Accounting Officers.
“It is also important to note that arrangements as to which days each public servant in the above categories will be at work shall be arranged by the Accounting Officers in Ministries, Departments and Agencies of government.
“The Governor has also graciously approved the continuation of payment of the agreed palliatives to public servants in the state for the next two months pending the commencement of the new minimum wage.
“All Accounting Officers of Ministries, Departments and Agencies of governments, including local governments, were further directed to comply.”

The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi has assured Nigerians that normalcy will return to the land, preparing to go into his seven days seclusion.
The monarch, in a statement through his spokesperson, Moses Olafare on Monday said the rite is the most sacred moment for him on the throne which he utilises to interact with his ancestors and pray for the people, the Oduduwa race worldwide, as well as mankind in general.
According to the statement, Ogunwusi stressed that his major request during the rite would be the betterment of the people in the country.

“Things are very tough and people are feeling the hardship, I want to pray for all and sundry and specially urge the youths to exercise patience so that we will not used our hands to destroy our country.
“I know that people are passing through difficult periods in which they are not finding life easy and truly this is a challenging period.
“But I know that after this festival, normalcy will return to the country, as the problems we’re facing will soon come to an end,” Ooni said.
Also, he urged the government to be diligent in serving the populace by making bountiful dividends of democracy for the citizenry.

The Abia State Government has set a date to start implementing the new minimum wage.
Okey Kanu, the state Commissioner for Information revealed on Monday that the minimum wage implantation will kick off by October.
Kanu said this while briefing the press on the outcome of the week’s State Executive Council meeting chaired by the state governor, Alex Otti.
In his words, “will cut across all categories of workers.”
Speaking of other outcomes of the meeting, he stressed that the state government is also set to commence the construction of 17 court halls across the 17 local government areas of the state.
He further disclosed that the state Ministry of Health will next week organise a free medical outreach at Ugwunnagbo.
In the same vein, he added that there would be free medical consultations, maternal and child healthcare services and free diagnostic tests.
